Pushing for the summit from Basecamp

If you've ever worked on a collaborative project with several invested parties at both ends of the line, you'll know that keeping everyone in the loop can be a bit of a nightmare, even with email.

That's why we use Basecamp, an online project management service, for all our live jobs. It keeps everything pertinent to the job together in one place. It's totally secure, easy to use and after working with us, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.

A central source of truth

Basecamp calls its centralised working environment a central source of truth, which aptly describes the main benefit of such a service. Whilst we do not necessarily discourage email or phone calls, they do both suffer from the same problem - messages are relayed just once and not necessarily to the right person.

Having all the decisions made throughout a project easily accessible to the relevant person or team can cut down on misinterpretation, and furthermore documents the project journey in such a way that variation from the original brief is there for all to see, which is a useful reminder of 'how we ended up here'. It helps both you and us to learn from our mistakes and, equally, to repeat our successes.

Every aspect of the project can be uploaded and discussed in this central forum. So it's much less of a barrier if someone is temporarily unreachable (because they had the temerity to go on holiday or become ill). It means your designers can talk to our designers without ignorant middle-men getting their pixels in a twist. Simply put, Basecamp makes it easier to make your exhibition solution the best it can be.

We could wax lyrical for ages about Basecamp (we can't recommend it highly enough), but it would be much easier for you to have a quick look at their website. If you're not already using it, it should be clear how this can be an essential organisational tool. We pay for a subscription to this service, but you don't have to have your own subscription; you'll simply be given online access to all the projects you do with us through our portal.

A window on logistics

We're currently developing a client login area for customers who use our warehousing and logistics services. When this project is complete, you'll have a personalised dashboard showing your exhibition stand hardware and graphic panels. You'll be able to choose an existing stand for an upcoming show, swap in other graphic panels or order new combinations. For those with multiple show across the country and varying stand space requirements, this solution is going to revolutionise the way you organise your events.
